The Houlihan Homestead
Houlihan: slang term for head over heels.
My name is Katie Gentry. I am a God-fearing, hard-working, homemaking, cowboy’s wife. I grew up in the heart of South Alabama. For those of you who grew up in a small town, you understand my love for “home”. It is true what they say, everybody knows everybody. That is one thing that I have grown to love and appreciate over the years. I love being able to have a conversation with Bonnie at the local Piggly Wiggly. Those tight knit relationships are what molded me into the God loving, servant that I am today. Those “Bonnies” set the most remarkable example for me to follow. I have grown to be passionate about serving the Lord first and my husband second. Everything else follows. As a newlywed, I constantly study what God calls me to be and do as a wife. I believe this is a role that has to be taken extremely serious, and one that has to be worked at nonstop. One aspect of my marriage that I am “head over heels for (houlihan)” is homemaking. Call me crazy, but my favorite two places to be are the barn and kitchen. I love to cook, clean, entertain, and host. My husband, Mark, and I own two horses, Norman and Sadie. For all of my horse lovers, you understand that this is a full time job. We tend to refer to them as our children. 🙂 My love for the western way of life is what brought me to the idea of blogging. I am convinced that I was born in the wrong time period. I think that I should be cooking dinner for John Wayne or Doc Holliday. LOL! I wanted to find a way to share my love for God, the western industry, and homemaking, as well as connect with other people who share these interest. I intend on posting new entries once a week. I will be sharing western decor inspiration, recipes, and devotions. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
